Testimonial - Thangam

Meenakshi Sridharan (a) Thangam, NZ I had always wanted to volunteer in CORD. When I did get everything organised for my 1 year break to volunteer at CORD, I became quite apprehensive as to how and in what way I would be able to help. After my brief training at CORD Sidhabari, I was sent off to CORD Tamaraipakkam which is located about 35 kms North West of Chennai. CORD Tamaraipakkam gave me a holistic exposure to the true rural lifestyle in India. CORD works hand in hand with Chinmaya Mission Tamaraipakkam that has a temple, a free school, a free medical center and camp facility. The rural women, children, youth, farmers and differently abled are empowered through CORD’s integrated sustainable program. I was given the opportunity to work with the village women, children and youth which I thoroughly enjoyed. Chinmaya Chanting Competition, 2017

25 schools - 6000 students - chanting competition on Vinayagar Agaval & Bhagavad Gita; July 1st week - Teachers orientation to teach; August 15 to September 30 - School level prelims - winners selected for district level competition; October 8 - District level finals - 350 participated; Thanks to all volunteers for making this project reach more children. Special thanks to the donors for helping us in preparing the learning aid. To Chant, Study, Know and Live is the grand vision behind the Chinmaya Chanting Competition.

Hari seva Camp - CVV NSS Sevaks

NSS students from Chinmaya Vidyalaya Virugambakkam volunteered at CORD Thamaraipakkam from September 24 to 28, 2017. The team of 21 sevaks expressed their love for the rural community by engaging themselves on various activities like Azolla pond making, soakage pit creation, tree plantation, training women on phenol making and fancy bangles making. The service visit was facilitated by CORD director Priya Arun, community development workers Lalitha, Gayathri, Silambarasan, Sangeetha, Rajalakshmi, Radhika, and Poongodi. CVV teachers Smt.Poonguzhali and Shri Sathish also volunteered & took care of the children.

29th Prathishta day

Sarveshvara Dhayana Nilayam's 29th consecration day was worshipped through ekadasha-rudra-homam, rudra abhishekam. Also villagers from about 40 villages performed milk abhishekam. About 600 devotees came in a procession from Dharaneeshwarar temple to Sarvehwara Dhayana Nilayam. The 1km procession was lead by Chinmaya Chariot. It was a fulfilling experience for all.
