Kandha sashti worhsip

Kandhasashti worship and celebration culminating in Surasamharam at Chinmaya Mission Thamaraipakkam, Tiruvallur district on November 13th 2018.

About 700 people from 20 villages participated in the kaavadi proession following which abhishekam and annadhanam was also done. The programs were organised in a grand manner by a huge team of volunteers over 3 weeks under the guidance of Swami Mitrananda and Shri Pasumai siddhar.

The function was graced by Shri Gopal ji of Dinamalar, also the State General Secretary of VHP.

Thamaraipakkam panchayat decorated 2 chariots depicting 2 houses of Lord Muruga - Pazhani and Tiruchendur.

Harihara Vidyalaya school children dressed up as Lord Muruga carrying spear (Vel) in their hands and chanting name of the Lord was a divine sight. The chande melam, udukkai, Arohara chants by children and devotees reverberated in the skies creating a devotional fervour.

Witnessing the surasamharam event, people felt that the distance to Tiruchendur was reduced.

Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda, the founder of Chinmaya Mission Worldwide (in 1951), consecrated Chinmaya Sarveshwara at Thamaraipakkam, Tiruvallur district in the year 1989. Since then, the center is serving the rural community through a charitable medical center and a free school named Harihara Vidyalaya. In 2005, with the blessings of Pujya Guruji Swami Tejomayananda and the guidance of CORD National team at Sidhbari, Shri P.N.Kannan started the rural development work in Tiruvallur district.  From 2013 December, CORD was further reaching out to more villages and empowerment programs, under the able leadership of Smt.Priya Arunachalam.
