Chinmaya Art Fest Rules and Regulations
General rules:
- Registration is only through online form. Last day for registration is July 25th. On the spot registration is not allowed.
- For each group event, only one team per school per category is allowed.
- For individual events, registration is unlimited.
- Participants can attend any number of events as long as the events do not overlap.
- Each participant must carry their school identity card.
- Participants in revealing/ inappropriate clothes will be disqualified.
- Songs/ music/ content/ language should not be provoking in anyway or compromise the harmony and culture of our Nation.
- Participants must review the below specific event rules and adhere to the details.
- Participants, props, music, etc. of certain events should be confirmed before registration. Contact the event coordinator if necessary.
- All events start at the scheduled times and punctuality is highly valued.
- The judge's decision is final.
COMPETITION RULES AND REGULATIONS
Group dance: (Junior & Senior)
- Theme for group dance should be Patriotic / Indic Culture.
- The time limit is 4 to 5 minutes. Negative marking for exceeding the time limit.
- Each team should consist of minimum 5 to a maximum of 8 members.
- Song selection is open to participants. But must verify with one of our event coordinators.
- Coordinators must email the mp3 of the song to ChinmayaArtFest@gmail.com
- As a backup, you may bring a copy of the audio file in a pen drive (mp3 format).
- The event organizers does not provide any props. Contestants should bring their own props.
- Dance performances should not convey vulgar gestures.
- Green room would be given for changing purposes.
Step in synchro dance: (Junior & Senior)
- Two (2) participants dance for the same music in exact synchronization without looking at each other.
- A screen will be placed between the 2 dancers so they don’t see each other.
- Time limit is 3 minutes.
- Theme for the dance should be Patriotic / Indic Culture.
- Song selection is open to participants. But must verify with one of our event organizers.
- Coordinators must email the mp3 of the song to ChinmayaArtFest@gmail.com
- As a backup, you may bring a copy of the audio file in a pen drive (mp3 format).
- Contestants can wear their own props.
Mime: (Senior)
- Theme for miming: Tributes to great Indian personalities, Climate Change, Drug abuse, Propaganda news, Farmer problems.
- Each team can have 8 to 10 members.
- Time limit is 5 minutes.
- Only instrumental music is allowed.
- Coordinators must email the mp3 of the song to ChinmayaArtFest@gmail.com
- As a backup, you may bring a copy of the audio file in a pen drive (mp3 format).
- The act should not contain any dialogues, lip sync.
- Obscenity will be disqualified.
- Points will be given on the basis of innovation, depiction of the situation, team work and expressions.
Tableau (Freeze frame): (Senior)
- Tableau is a theatrical technique in which actors freeze in poses that create a picture of one important moment in the play. The scene must tell a story visually, without movement or sound.
- Themes for Tableau: India as world leader, Agnipath, Chola Dynasty & Freedom Struggle.
- Each team can have 10 to 15 members.
- Time limit is 5 minutes for getting stage display ready and 3 minutes for display.
- Three minute narration or music is allowed in the background while the display is on.
- Props will not be provided by event organizers.
- Points will be given on the basis of innovation, depiction of the situation, team work, props and expressions.
A cappella (Senior)
- A cappella music is a performance by a singing group without instrumental accompaniment.
- Theme should be patriotic, inspirational. No romantic, vulgar, provoking song or gaana songs are allowed.
- Each team can have 10 to 15 members.
- Time limit is 3 to 4 minutes.
- No instruments of any kind are allowed. Clapping, tapping, stomping, snapping, whistling, other vocal modulations are all allowed.
- Song should be verified with our event organizer.
Pencil Drawing (Senior) and Water colour Painting: (Junior)
- Themes for drawing: Ramayanam arangetram by Kambar in Srirangam temple, Kappal Ottiya Thamizhan, kalarippayattu & Goomar dance.
- Themes for painting: Ayyanar temple, rekla race, Adi Shankaracharya ji meditating on banks of river Ganga & Puliyattam.
- Chart paper will be provided.
- Students are required to bring their own drawing & painting material.
- Time limit - 2 hours
Mono act (Junior)
- Theme: Tribute to great Indian personalities.
- Participants need to dress up to suit their character.
- Time limit is 3 to 4 minutes.
- The medium of expression can be Tamil, English or both.
- Do not use vulgar or offensive words.
Story telling (Junior)
- Theme: Kings of India
- Time limit is 4 to 5 minutes.
- The medium of expression can be Tamil, English or both.
- Do not use vulgar or offensive words.
- Participants need not dress up like the character but props can be used.
Oratorical (Senior)
Theme:- If I become the Education Minister of TN…
- India as super power in space research.
- Is there a connection between Health & Mind?
- Is there a need for youth to be aware & engaged in politics?
- Beti Bachao Beti Padhao
- Should school uniforms be banned?
- Time limit is 3 minutes.
- The medium of expression can be Tamil, English or both.
- Do not use vulgar or offensive words.
Bharatiyar Poem Recitation (Junior)
- Points will be given for memory, pronunciation, expression & body language.
- Please see the website for selected Bharathiyar songs list.
Quiz (Senior)
- Questions will be published on our web page by July 20. Please watch the website for updates.
- 70% of the prelims will be based on these questions.
- Preliminary round will be of multiple choice.
- Top 10 scorers will be called for final round. Two children will be paired up in teams.
- Finals will have multiple rounds like general round, buzzer round, audio-visual round & rapid fire.
